Former US Central Secretary of the Pete Buttigieg offered numerous ways that he would change the Democratic Party platform if he could travel in 2020.
In the wake of the party’s crucial loss in 2024, some prominent Democrats have talked about how they should change in America’s most pressing issues.
Many Democrats have argued that the party must moderate not only its tone but its policies. Buttigieg, who has previously spoken of how the party has to stop the alienation of voters is no exception.
Tim Miller, a political strategist for The Bulwark, issued a new episode of Outlet’s Podcast on Tuesday, where he interviewed Buttigieg.
Miller referred to Delorean traveling in time from “return to the future”, and asked Buttigieg what advice he would give to his past and then-then Joe Biden to prevent the US today.
“What do you think you should have done different?” Asked Miller.
“One, for the love of God, understand a way to open schools faster,” Buttigieg said. “We got a lot of knees for this and the costs were-not only politically-but in a deep way I think, for a generation, the costs were deep, and I think whoever is involved, who was, by the way, undoubtedly does their best to deal with a crisis that killed a million Americans, but I think most people would have been able to do more.”
The former transporter of transport pursued another key issue that has grown prominent in recent years.
“Of course, pay more attention to the border,” he said, mentioning another advice for 2020 Democrats. “That’s true, and this will be something you can’t like, take your time to deal with all things, out of the way, this is super, you know, politically and politically, we have the benefit of supervision to reflect on it.”

The third advice he offered, especially for himself, had to do with the nature of the economy perceived.
“Three, even though you have spent your entire political life believing that ‘economics and jobs are the same, and if you have a lot of work, it is a good economy, and if you have a problem with jobs, it is a bad economy.’ Remember that prices are just as big part of the economy, it has not just come out in the last 40 years, ”he said.
Buttigieg argued that no country was able to save its economy from the pandemia without taking any inflation, “but I think there were many moments where people shaken it in the first year or two, even like the conversation about it.”
